The people, the likeminded folks that gather and enjoy the hunt ... the fun ... the challenge. I certainly enjoy the outdoors alone and the quiet breezes, but the Geocaching game (it IS a game) is something I can do in addition to enjoying getting away and outside whether it's in urban areas or deserted country roads. My introduction to Caching was by an old high school friend, BrainWerx and those caches were a big series of caches in the Dallas area by SandBass King and Queen. What fun avoiding muggles at the bus stops, the favorite 'Spinning Wheel' that I imitated when I got back home to Houston and garnered many Favorites in Jesse Jones Park with 'Easy As Pi". The logs expressed that fun and thanks for the searches.
The fun at reading the logs from dads and moms out with their kids, family fun and learning the game, the GPS, the tracking and perseverance that it takes sometimes to look and look some more, and then the Joy! Found It! The logs by so many back then and some of the ones now, that shared the experience of the grins and smiles that searching and finding brought them. And adding a picture?! So fun to see the happy faces, sometimes red with the heat of the day or rosy with chapped cheeks from the cold. I even had some First to Finders that used the opportunity on an early morning run, to ask and accept a marriage proposal out there at the cache! How wonderful to hear that story. That was always worth the time, energy, preparation and installing of my hides.
As long as I've been caching, I've never reached the number of finds that so many others have. It's OK if that what the game is to you. But if you had a good time, if the cache brought you an opportuniy to see something new as a virtual or just a break from the humdrum of the everyday, it would be great to leave some cool logs of your experience, a little acknowledgement of and sharing of what your fellow cacher, the 'hider 'afforded' to you. Happy Caching! Well I was slowly point in go myself with the large doses. I had swelling C in leg as and belly and feet pretty bad and took a while before reacting it to the Mio. I stopped and the swelling went away in a day. Half the propelene glycol is excreted and the other half breaks down and leave lactic acidosis. Pretty sure what I had was Metabolic Acidocis as a result. First, I'll freely acknowledge the obvious draw of the Geocoin as the finish prize. I love the coins (as does every other cacher I personally know). Knowing I'm going to get a coin is the final piece of motivation I might need to get it done. Second, I enjoy GeoTours because of the potential the tour tantalizes me with. What do I mean? Baytown is actually a great example...I have lived in Houston all my life, been in and around Baytown all the time. STILL didn't know anything about Baytown other than a few obvious tidbits. The draw for me is: a) learning something new about the area, b) encountering a cool cache location, c) encountering a cool cache container, d) knowing that the caches are being maintained.
I enjoyed the multi that involved the old 895. Cool piece of history (and a great park that I have been back to many times since my first visit as a cacher).
I totally understand the propensity to focus on the GeoTour caches to the exclusion of all else, and when I did the Brenham GT that was because our goal was to start and finish the GT in the same day! I would say that it would be a great service of the organizations running the GT to find a way to publicize other non-GT caches that are nearby (maybe in an email in response to the passport submittal, or on the cache pages, or in a paper insert with the coin) to celebrate and promote continued caching in the area.

2) Adventure Labs... I've done 5 or so of the new Adventure Labs so far. By FAR the best one so far has been the Baytown Adventure Labs. Neat locations, well thought out, just plain fun. I've also done a few that were so-so at best. Adventure Labs should be ALL about location, location, location. I want to see a super-cool location, learn something super-cool, or experience something super-cool, and the best ones accomplish at least 2 of the 3! All THAT said, my biggest complaint about Adventure Lab is one shared by many...ALs should be shown inside the official game just like WIGs, we should receive alerts for new ALs, and they should be a solid part of our game statistics. As it is ALs feel like an external part of the game.

While acknowledging the issues that GT's and AL's can bring to an area, I believe those issues could be addressed and everyone could still enjoy these parts of the game!

Regardless, enjoy your game and cache on!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7304841.post-12317536071833941722019-12-23T09:01:04.682-06:002019-12-23T09:01:04.682-06:00"The plot has been pretty thick for more than..."The plot has been pretty thick for more than a decade. There are people who will log a find if they see it in a tree but don't or can't climb the tree. They have not signed the log. A nano should be signed too. You can use your initials to save space and then mention that you signed the log as BB or whatever. It is up to the cache owner to maintain their cache and putting in a new log when the old one gets full is part of their maintenance requirement.Doughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09706606592845209331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7304841.post-31195863475699441242019-09-25T07:09:39.461-05:002019-09-25T07:09:39.461-05:00D Cutler: You got it right!

Now what that fire means is another story. However, in the circles this man traveled, women coming to him most likely knew what was in store. As far as the minor girls go, this important point has to considered on a global scale. In New Hampshire, if the parents give consent, a daughter can marry at 13. In Massachusetts, a girl can marry at 12 if her parents sign off!|

I have no information on how many underage "girls" were in his company during all the years he was active, but again I suspect very few girls were with him against their will and all felt to benefit either by money or a boost in their movie career.
