I have a cute container I actually made a couple of years ago and plan to put out soon. I want to again place caches in interesting locations but also with better containers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7304841.post-28523639885832524412018-12-24T13:48:12.900-06:002018-12-24T13:48:12.900-06:00Crystal Landry: I agree with many of your points. ...Crystal Landry: I agree with many of your points. I've slacked off hunting because everything near me are micros and I just hate them lol. I love finding swag to trade. That's why my first placement was a quart sized Mason jar. And I always am sure I can maintain my caches. I have my second in my truck right now because the county damaged my hiding area. I understand where you are coming from with the free apps thing, but in all honesty I'm one of those people. I have the app on my phone, though I would love to eventually get an actual GPS unit. But I adore geocaching. I haven't made any events, sadly, because I'm usually broke around the time they happen. I've turned this little hobby into something for my family. My two sister and my two boys absolutely love to go. And, while we are on our devices, it doesn't feel like it. We are out, spending time together, and enjoying natureAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7304841.post-25086154111392617692018-12-24T13:45:10.789-06:002018-12-24T13:45:10.789-06:00Stephanie Howlett: It's become all about the n...Stephanie Howlett: It's become all about the numbers and challenges. It's totally turned us off, and we ignore most of it anymore. We'll always stick with trails in the woods, (unless we're truly just bored and filling in a few minutes). While an area with many caches has appeal, we'd also complete that ten mile hike for the one prize. Trails are for sure not for everyone. Just saying, that's we'll always go for. And when Herp retires next year, we'll get more active with placing some nice caches where we can find space among the clutter.<br />For events, we do like the regular regional meet-ups. It is one meal I don't have to cook. And I am not sure what meet and greets you were attending but the ones I go to average between 15-25 people, we give away door prizes, we discuss our latest Geo adventures and trade gc codes, we discover trackables, we discuss our phone apps latest features and show people how to use them, we play Geo games, and it gives new cachers an opportunity to meet cachers in their general area. And we put a little money into the economy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
