As a voter, sometimes it is difficult to figure out who is telling the truth and who is promising a non-existent Utopia. If you like what Trump is doing for the country... vote for him again in 2020. If you are still on the fence over the other party, understanding the standard Democratic goal is simple. I say it is a simple formula because all of the Democratic candidates have the same message.
Through legislation, they plan to outlaw :
1. the right to own or bear firearms including revoking civilian gun permits.
2. decision to chose your own food, including beef.
3. decision to control the thermostat in your house/work place/stores
4. right of freedom of speech.
5. remove representation from taxation.
6. install rigid guidelines to enforce the "protection of the environment" over citizens rights, including mandatory community gardens co-ops.
7. Remove the choice of any healthcare other than Socialized medicine they provide, including triage of the aged, infirm, and imperfect.
8. Further restrict travel to only the State level without a passport.
9. Further dilute the abortion laws until there are none.
10. Turn every law inward to make the populace more dependent on government. Eventual confiscation of all private business.
11. Remove all reference in the English language concerning gender differences.
I couldn't find anything they want to "give" us that doesn't include
first "taking" from us through higher taxes, or restricting our freedoms
and all in the name of The People.
Am I wrong? Did I get something terribly wrong or did I miss something even bigger?
Note: none of this is from copy and paste.

Better buy a pair of hammers
Folks,
you may not realize how hard working some citizens are in attempting to
tear down the Constitution and it goes on right here among us.
Here is my response to one local anti-gun activist in the online edition of the Baytown Sun, who basically wants everyone to turn in all their evil firearms:
"I talked to a Russian citizen who had a Visa to drive an 18-wheeler here. Knowing citizens in Russia are forbidden to own firearms, I asked him about murder there. His exact words were, "In Russia, when we want to kill someone, we use a hammer."
Another local bellowing activist asked this golden question: "Is baytownblert's point supposed to be if the US banned all guns like Russia has done, then American white supremacists would instead use hammers to murder Mexicans?"
Now, FYI, this active radical is a 55+ year old white guy who is a true radical Leftist and extremely active. He never rests and sees nothing good about anyone or anything. I call him and his kind curmudgeons. They never contribute anything positive and never stop trying to stink up any place they visit.

The Nihilist Squad and their goal
If you watched the movie, The Big Lebowski, you learned their antagonists are Nihilists, who, "don't believe in anything". "The term nihilism has been employed to denote a wide range of phenomena. It has been variously used to express contempt or horror on the one side, approval and admiration on the other. In the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, it has almost always been an emotional and axiological term, frequently employed to cut off debate on a moral issue by representing a particular position as absolute, totalizing, and extreme."
This is the goal and aim of AOC and the "Squad" of absolute, totalizing, and extreme politics. They know they cannot win, but they can make inroads new fanatics will plunder and violate in the future. Their ultimate goal is the collapse of our constitution. This group won't be able to do it, but the next and the next and the next will succeed.

Voting 101 makes it easy
In my simplistic blue-collar mind, I continually ponder one
thought when it comes to the division in the 2 political parties that run our
government. How can they walk together unless they agree? I think at one time
the chasm wasn’t so clearly defined, but I do believe I can sum up which party
you, the reader should vote for. Of course I am not going to tell you how to
vote, but I would like to ask a couple of questions and based on the assumption
that anyone who challenges us to define what we believe is our friend, it
should make the decision easier.
So, seeing that almost no one trusts the media to tell the
truth, let’s just look at this voting thing in a logical manner. Forget who you
have traditionally voted for for a moment and let’s look at the bigger picture.
Are you for expanding government, adding more financial
assistance programs (excluding affordable health care which we all found out
wasn’t affordable at all), paying more and more taxes, restricting or removing
the right to own a gun, free education that is funded by your tax dollars, opening
the borders and letting non-citizens not only vote, but give them tax payer
subsidies, and letting your 15 year old daughter get a free abortion without
your knowledge or consent at tax payers expense… then vote for your favorite
Democrat. Just remember, if you work and pay taxes, they are going to take more
and more to pay for all those wonderful social programs that sadly, you do not
qualify for.
They truly have a utopian vision where everyone gets
everything from the elected government officials. On top of that, the more
power you give the government over your daily affairs, especially subsidies,
the more you are enslaved. They hold the purse strings and it has to come from
somewhere. When a country reaches the place where the majority is nursing the
government’s purse, the country collapses, because there are not enough workers
to keep the zippered bag full.
Now, let’s say you do not want the government in your pocket
any more than it already is. You work and pay taxes. You obey the laws. You
attempt to live in harmony, but as libertarians (citizens who trust the
Constitution and don’t want the government in their life unless there is
anarchy, a serious weather event, or a plague). You want your Republican
politician to tighten the borders, vet immigration, leave the 2nd
Amendment alone, promote education on the sanctity of life, close the loop
holes in zealous government sponsored assistance programs that drain your tax
dollars, pay less taxes, identify voters as US citizens… then vote Republican.
The Democrats love raising taxes, shrinking our military, opening
the borders, offering sanction to people who sneak into the country, and
draining the government coffers so they can enslave people. They have encouraged
an army of misfits and thugs to scream and holler and challenge police at any
and all conservative political gatherings. This is not hearsay, its history. I
would much rather our government fueled the economy so people can work and pay
taxes, wouldn’t you?
We cannot continue to fight politically and kid ourselves
that it will make America
better because it won’t. If half the energy was spent on government funded
work-related training in all the trades, it would be astounding to see the
results. Feed a person a fish and come meal time, they need another fish. Teach
them to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.
As voters it is our responsibility alone to examine not only
the issues, but the leanings of both parties. Of course I have over-simplified
my guide and of course I am not a political major; heck I never was a major at
any time in anything, but I do know enough about myself to know which direction
to vote. Our founders gave us a Republic, not a Democracy for a reason, but you
will have to research that one for yourself.

The American Privilege Issue
There is hardly a day that goes by that I don’t remember
living in Southeast Asia for almost 2 years.
According to my DD-214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge
from Active Military Duty) it was exactly 651 days. What sparks this reoccurring
memory is usually the fact that I have clean sheets, air conditioning,
security, or potable water coming out of my faucet.
The old proverb that you never know what you
have until it’s gone is very true, but in my case, it was and still is just the
opposite. After experiencing the culture shock of leaving modern American life
and being dropped into Third World country
conditions, I got an instant education into American privilege. Notice I didn’t
say white privilege? What I experienced
affected all of us military folks who have lived this.
“People say you don't know what you've got until it’s
gone. Truth is, you knew what you had; you just never thought you'd lose it, or
frankly, took it for granted.”
I
remember carrying a half dozen canteens over to the Security Police Squadron to
fill them from a hanging canvas bag, G.I.’s referred to as a water buffalo. If
I wanted potable water, this is where I had to go. My hootch room had one
hanging light bulb, for which I was thankful and eventually I procured not one,
but 2 oscillating fans to keep the room temperature bearable. Being in Base
Supply had its perks, as hardly anyone had more than one fan.
Being
stationed in the dreaded Cobra Triangle of Central Thailand, walking to the communal
shower at night meant that it was a “Do I rinse off before I try to sleep, or
just lay sweating?” conundrum. One way or the other, I was going to begin
sweating within 15 minutes anyway, even with the fans. This meant that all
night or day, depending on my schedule, I was going to toss and turn rotisserie
style in my sleep, or cook on the bottom side.
“Appreciate what you have before it becomes what you
had.”
My
hootch had wooden slats that were screened and kept most critters out and those
first months were fraught with anxiety, but we humans can learn to adapt to
almost any condition – if we are forced to that is. Roaches the size of a pack
of gum would sometimes crawl over me when I slept, or a large lizard would find
its way in my small room. Occasionally other crawling things would come in
goodly numbers and at first it really shook me. One time I sprayed one of these
hug roaches with official C-130 aircraft insecticide, which was supposed to
kill any bug trying to get back to the States on a free ride.
After
30 minutes, I squashed it with my jungle boot and this was after it jumped,
flew, and crawled all over the room, flicking its wings. It was an impressive
display and one that was quite educational and I’ll be honest and say I never
took my eyes off it. Months into my
double deployment, I would squash a crawling bug in my half sleep, toss it on
the floor and rolling over, go back to sleep.
“Don't take things for granted because they might not be
there tomorrow.”
I
remember coming back to the States and marveling at how rich of a country we
had. The year was 1974 and everywhere I looked were new cars and signs of
prosperity. People owned a lot of stuff and guess what? None of that has
changed. In fact, we own 2 and 3 times more now than then. Every car has air
conditioning and automatic transmissions. People have so much food, they could
literally live on half what they eat. Every person here is privileged, make no
mistake about it and don’t let some rich athlete or entertainer try to convince
you otherwise. They need to hop on a jet airplane and be dropped off in a
stinking jungle like we were and have the same options we did and by golly,
they will change their tune right quick.
Belly
aching and whining is for wimpy over-paid elitists looking for a cause that
most of us don’t want to hear about. They live the life of luxury and can
afford to lose endorsements while they get by on their 19 or 30 million dollar
salaries. They can’t be content to take their kids crabbing, or spend the night
in a tent after sitting around a campfire in one of our beautiful State parks.
They have to act up and regardless of their constitutional right; they appear
to be what they are – overpaid elitists, using their status to draw attention
to something they can’t really relate to.
They’ve lost sight of what they have and live in a fantasy
world where they think they represent those of us who still appreciate the
small conveniences and blessings. They don’t represent me. If they really want
to make a difference, there are better ways than acting in such a manner as to
divide this great country. Anyone can become a rock in a shoe, but it takes
someone special to have the vision of an ambassador and act on it.

People killing people
In light of the recent campus shooting in Oregon,
I am reminded what a Russian truck driver told me when I asked about the many
guns in America and if it
bothered him seeing they can't have guns in Russia. "In Russia,
when we want to kill someone, we use a hammer."
If someone is bent on killing people, they will find a way.
This mass shooting in Oregon
happened in a gun-free zone. No one except law officers were allowed to carry a
firearm on campus and the college had voted one cop was enough. A 30.06 sign banning everyone else from
carrying a firearm insured the shooter would not be immediately stopped. All
the sign does is make concealed handgun license owners as vulnerable as those
that hate guns and just as helpless.

Our own police department views CHL carriers as augmentees
and force multipliers in the event that the police department or an officer is
overwhelmed. Look around your social group as an example. Many people you
associate with carry a weapon, but you never see it and often times enjoy your
own safety knowing Uncle Bob has his gun. I have carried a firearm for over ten
years and I’ve never shot anyone.
When you live in a society where deranged or ideologically
motivated people commit these types of crimes, putting up a sign is about as
effective as swinging a feather at a cannon ball. Our President can issue a
statement on his frustration over and over again and it will continue to propel
the idea that guns kill people instead of people kill people.
Changing the second amendment of the Constitution and
removing the inalienable right to protect yourself, is not going to stop a
single deranged or misguided criminal from shooting up any place where people
congregate. Here in an area where 6 million people rub shoulders, we are seeing
more and more examples of CHL holders fighting back and that sure beats the
alternative.

Give me a break!
I am a news junkie.
There I said it. I am positive I
am not alone in my addiction and my compulsion is jading me against humanity. I jump from the Drudge Report to Google News
ten times a day unless I am at the gym, hiking in the woods, or
geocaching. I have to get away from “the
news” to clear my head.
I can’t get mental escape in my Jeep driving anywhere within
30 miles of Houston or Baytown, as I want to survive the
experience. Navigating the congested
traffic, aggressive drivers, distracted motorists, and the many inexperienced
drivers is akin to watching the news as far as stress is concerned.
Now, thanks to a group of lemming idiots controlling what we
get to see and read, I am going to be forced to watch Bruce Jenner go “all freaky”
for the next (insert some long amount of time here). It’s bad enough to watch yet another
arch-villainous group try to take over the world (Mongols, Nazi’s, Commies, Al
Qaeda – the list stretches back, back, back, like Charles Barkley pushing his way
toward the basket).
Does anyone honestly believe that we are going to have a say
over who runs for the next President of the United States? Really (I think I see a hand being raised in
the back of the room)?
On one side we have a government who is out to circumvent
the bulk of the Constitution, giving the greatest share of our blessings to
people who aren’t even citizens and came into this country illegally, while on
the other, a second group who are going to supposedly fix it. To be perfectly frank, I think there is only
one group. The Democrats bashed GWB ad
nauseum, then continued to do the same thing his administration did AND spend
even more money that we don’t have.
The Presidents approval rating is falling like a blind
roofer and what does he and his bride do to lift it? You got it.
They spent an estimated 2.5 million dollars so Michelle and girls could
ski in Aspen like the rest of us folks and he
could play 3 days of golf at an exclusive resort in California.
Oh, that must be Fox News reporting that, right? No, it was our British friends who reported
this extravagance.
Why can the elite in government take giant vacations fairly
often and those of us who earn 6 figures can’t?
Easy. They are totally subsidized
by… us! Oh wait a second! When the Republicans get in charge, all of
this will come to a halt! Don’t wager on
it. Meet the new boss, same as the old
boss.
You know, it didn’t take me long in retirement to figure out
that our government has a plan to strip you of every cent you earned to get
here. We are taught that easy street was
where you went after years of saving and toiling and you will be home
free. Sorry, just like the notion that
our government is by the people and for the people, it is an illusion. The government is a cancer that has grown to
the point that it IS the body and it feeds off of the rest that is left, namely
us. Feed me, Seymour!
We are bombarded with bad news, beheadings, mass stripping
of our rights for the purpose of protecting us, dangerous robberies, extreme
weather, shootings, rioting, and terror to the point that we accept being
herded like cattle. Now we learn the
Jews are fleeing Europe, like rodents leaving
a sinking ship. The way the news
presents it, the militant ISIS is swarming
everywhere like locusts and the approaching cloud is just about unstoppable.
As I’ve said before, I am sick of it. I am weary of hearing that the answer is to
send troops to the Middle East to train troops
to stand up and fight. My God, how many
times does this have to fail in my lifetime before we realize it won’t work
this time? How many times do we have to
send Chuck Norris or Rambo over there?
Where the heck is George Patton?
The only viable answer to this radical religious killing
movement is for the non-radical Muslims to squash it. Everyone else step back and let them deep-six
the blood thirsty misguided murderers.
Otherwise, you are going to see the militarization of vigilantes and
they won’t be discriminate. You will
have self-appointed terrorist-killers loose on the world’s streets killing
anyone they think is a radical. Germany is already headed this way and we all
know Germany’s
history.
I’ll continue to keep one eye glued on the news, but find my
real pleasure in Spin class, or pushing and pulling weights at the gym named
after the clock. I find the endorphin
release is my antidote for all the bad news.
For the last 3 weeks, I’ve been deep in the East
Texas woods with others, racking up 12-14 mile hikes and I have
another one Saturday. Out there my only
concern is a big feral hog and that is something tangible I am prepared to deal
with.

Sanctimony and Political Correctness
However, at no time did I contemplate blowing up an abortion
clinic, attempt to “beat the gay” out of someone, or walk into a military
school and kill 150 students because their lifestyle or dogma differed from my
own. I simply wanted to do right and
still do.
Fairly often I would engage in debates about the
interpretation of the Holy Scriptures, but I can’t recall ever getting angry
and condescending. In fact, I studied
and studied and studied, reading the entire Bible many times because I wanted
to understand the scriptures and be able to convey its mysteries to others.
I worked the bus ministry and taught home Bible studies for
many years to do my share, but at no time did I feel sanctimonious, that I recall. In fact, I always felt like I could do
more. This manner of approaching my
spiritual life defined the man I am now, and my moral code, but it doesn’t negate
that I am in fact a grassroots American who loves my freedom.
This religious education and gradual refinement of how I
think the Almighty views things has helped me define a lot of issues, including
homosexuality and abortion and a whole great bunch of other sensitive subjects
that each of us have the personal obligation to define for ourselves. The simple truth is, I am not God and I
refuse to judge people on issues I do not understand or can’t change.
Oh I am sure there are readers stabbing their fingers into
the black book right now and doubting my education, but truth be told, they are
not their judge either. Am I saying that
I’ve become politically correct? Heck
no, but I can’t get pregnant either, so who am I to cast a stone at a woman who
decides she is going to do this? She’s
the one who has to live with her conscience until that great day comes. Do I find my same gender physically
attractive? No, and I’ve never had a
homosexual try to convert me either.
I’ve heard people rail against homosexuals with
sanctimonious zeal, only to find out someone they dearly love has “came out”. For the most part, they go mute and then down
the road accept the fact that they are not God and only the Almighty can sort
it out. Sure, I know this isn’t a popular
subject, but a big pat goes on my back for having either the fortitude, stupidity,
or the gall to write it.
It absolutely makes me laugh to read some peoples take on
what others say and sit back in their over-stuffed chair and polish their shiny
halo while eating divinity as they righteously spout a stinging rebuke to
anyone else that lives below their high standard of religious perspective
and/or misunderstanding of “the actual facts”.
Note: this includes everyone besides
them. Do I take them serious? Does anyone?
I doubt it. Spewing out reams of
condescending diatribe of righteousness and political correctness under the
guise of superior thinking is churlish and sadly - hilarious.
To me, I sum up political correctness with this other saying
I have learned to hate; “for the good of the people” and blaming misdirected
and stupid “Tea Party members every time something crosses the PC boundaries
some swear by, doesn’t mean anything to most other than it is more bigoted and
stunted in understanding of the Constitution than the people that are being
belittled. The Tea Party is not
misdirected. For a real example of elitist
intentions, take a look at the two party giggly bologna that goes on in Washington to see an
example of a political self-serving circus.
The Tea Party advocates have been uniformly bashed by the
powers that be because they are a threat to the established hierarchy and lemming-like,
uneducated voters believe they are correct, simply because it is politically
correct to follow those dudes and dudettes we elected. The real sad truth is we elected them because
they told us who to vote for and narrowed it down real nice like.
“Which flavor would you like Sir, Ma’am? Cake or cake? “ Silent pause. “Uh, I’ll have cake I guess…”
Nope. Let’s toss out
everything but the Constitution and expect our sanctimonious government to take
a look at it every time they try to cram something down our throats for the
good of the people. With the next
Presidential election on the horizon, it will behoove us to take a good look at
what this political correctness has got us so far. Not much and for the sake of this column, I
want to define what the Tea Party stands for.
The Tea Party is a nonpartisan grassroots group of citizens
committed to advancing commonly shared values, including strict interpretation
of The Constitution of the United
States, free market capitalism, fiscally
responsible government, limited federal government, and protected sovereign
rights of state and local governments in response to the will of the people.
Now who could argue with that?
